Position Overview

The successful candidate will deliver exceptional front-line administrative assistance to the National Amyloidosis Centre. This role requires close collaboration with nursing staff, medical professionals, and fellow administrative personnel. As a vital member of the Amyloidosis team, the individual will ensure the provision of an efficient, high-quality, and timely service, creating a welcoming and professional environment for patients, their families, and all service users.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support in the designated reception area, promptly addressing any issues with the Clinical Pathway Manager.
  • Become proficient in EPR and MS Access databases to facilitate patient registration, appointment scheduling, and check-out processes.
  • Verify patient details including names, addresses, GP information, and next of kin, ensuring all records are current and accurate.
  • Collaborate closely with nursing and medical teams to deliver a professional service.
  • Handle incoming telephone inquiries and requests, responding in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Maintain the department's information board, ensuring it is regularly updated.
  • Coordinate follow-up clinic appointments as directed by medical staff, ensuring timely communication with patients regarding their outpatient appointments.
  • Notify patients of any urgent or last-minute appointments as necessary.
  • Act independently while adhering to established processes and protocols, seeking guidance from the Reception Team Leader/Manager when required.
  • Ensure data integrity by accurately scanning departmental records into the EDRM system.
