Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our Clinical Biochemistry team at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a Senior Biomedical Scientist, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality laboratory services, leading a team of scientists and technicians, and contributing to the development of new procedures and protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of scientists and technicians in the analysis of blood samples and the interpretation of results
  • Develop and implement new procedures and protocols to improve laboratory efficiency and quality
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of laboratory services
  • Contribute to the development of new tests and procedures to improve patient care
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including UKAS and ISO 15189
Requirements
  • Registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Biomedical Scientist
  • Hold a Specialist Diploma in Clinical Biochemistry or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in a busy, acute medical clinical chemistry laboratory environment
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and present routine data/results/concepts
  • Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet packages
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience of managing staff and leading a team
  • Experience of teaching and training staff
  • Knowledge of current requirements for training and career progression
  • Management qualification
