Position: Senior Sports Instructor

Hours: 07:30-17:30, Monday-Friday (Total hours will not exceed 45 hours per week)

Compensation: Competitive weekly salary based on age, experience, qualifications, and camp size.

Reporting To: Camp Manager, Area Manager, and Central Office.

Barracudas is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young individuals, and we expect all staff to uphold this commitment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate and oversee induction training and preparation days prior to camp.
  • Complete necessary documentation and manage high-risk activities in line with Barracudas Activity Codes of Practice.
  • Implement Health and Safety protocols to maintain a secure environment.
  • Design a diverse schedule of activities suitable for various age groups, ensuring effective use of all equipment.
  • Manage Early and Late Club sessions, including staffing and activity scheduling.
  • Maintain regular communication with Area Managers and Central Office.
  • Utilize your sports expertise to guide staff in delivery techniques, ensuring safety for both children and staff, while enhancing activities with suitable equipment.
  • Demonstrate new activities to staff members to boost their confidence in execution.
  • Organize Skill Builders courses and ensure adherence to the outlined content.
  • Oversee administrative tasks related to the camp.

Specialist Instructors:
Multi-Activity, Fencing+, and Lifeguards

  • Engage with parents and guardians on a daily basis.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the site and storage areas, and that all equipment is properly stored.
  • Evaluate and review staff performance for end-of-season assessments.

Requirements:
  • Attendance at mandatory Senior Training events.
  • Experience in sports coaching, preferably with children, and/or team leadership.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Obtain an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or possess an existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Provide satisfactory professional or academic references.
  • Participate in and deliver Induction Training Day(s).
  • Barracudas Multi Activity qualification is preferred.
  • Complete annual Online Training.
  • Assist in the end-of-camp pack-up process.
  • At least half of the senior staff should be trained in Paediatric First Aid, depending on camp size.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to Health and Safety obligations by following established procedures and systems.
  • Be proactive in addressing safety concerns.
  • Prepare for induction training using relevant manuals.
  • Conduct staff evaluations at the conclusion of their contracts.
  • Report any Child Protection concerns to a designated person at Central Office.
  • Ensure staff are informed about children with additional, medical, or dietary needs.
  • Administer necessary medication in accordance with established protocols.
  • Bring swimwear daily as it may be required for swimming sessions.
  • The Senior Sports Instructor role may vary based on the number of children attending camp.
