Position: Senior Sports Instructor - Summer Camp

Working Hours: 07:30-17:30, Monday-Friday (Total hours will not exceed 45 hours per week)

Compensation: Competitive weekly salary based on age, experience, qualifications, and camp size.

Reporting Structure: Directly accountable to the Camp Manager, Area Manager, and Central Office. Barracudas is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young individuals, expecting all personnel to uphold this commitment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate and oversee induction training and preparation days prior to camp commencement.
  • Complete necessary documentation and manage high-risk activities in line with Barracudas Activity Codes of Practice.
  • Implement Health and Safety protocols to maintain a secure environment.
  • Develop a diverse activity schedule suitable for various age groups, ensuring effective use of all equipment.
  • Manage Early and Late Club sessions, including staffing and activity scheduling.
  • Maintain regular communication with Area Managers and Central Office.
  • Utilize your sports expertise to guide staff in delivery techniques, ensuring safety for both children and staff, while enhancing activities with suitable equipment.
  • Demonstrate new activities to staff members to build their confidence in execution.
  • Schedule Skill Builders courses and ensure adherence to the outlined content.
  • Oversee documentation and compliance with regulations.

Specialist Instructors:
Multi-Activity, Fencing+, and Lifeguards

  • Engage with parents and guardians on a daily basis.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the site and equipment.
  • Evaluate and review staff performance for end-of-season assessments.
Qualifications:
  • Attendance at mandatory Senior Training events is required.
  • Relevant sporting and coaching experience, preferably with children, and/or experience in team leadership.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Obtain an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or possess an existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Provide satisfactory professional or academic references.
  • Participate in and deliver Induction Training Day(s) prior to camp opening.
  • Barracudas Multi Activity qualification is preferred.
  • Complete annual Online Training.
  • Assist in the end-of-camp pack-up process.
  • Aim for a minimum of half of the senior staff to be trained in Paediatric First Aid, varying based on camp size.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to Health and Safety obligations by following established procedures and protocols.
  • Approach safety concerns proactively and diligently.
  • Prepare for induction training using relevant manuals.
  • Conduct staff evaluations at the conclusion of their contracts.
  • Report any Child Protection concerns to a designated individual at Central Office.
  • Ensure staff are informed of any children with additional, medical, or dietary needs and assist in making reasonable adjustments.
  • Administer necessary medication accurately, following EI forms and completing appropriate documentation.
  • Bring swimwear daily as it may be required for swimming sessions.
  • The Senior Sports Instructor role may vary based on the number of children attending camp, with adjustments communicated directly by Central Office.
  • The above responsibilities are not exhaustive, and you may be required to undertake additional tasks as necessary to meet the organization's objectives.
