About the Role

The Investment Management Team (IMT), a vital part of the Business Planning & Performance division, is seeking a proactive and innovative individual to join our ranks.

The IMT plays a crucial role in the assurance and approval processes for the substantial Investment portfolio within our client's Nuclear Operations sector, which includes Nuclear Decommissioning (ND). This involves ensuring that investments adhere to the correct procedures and obtain the necessary approvals to initiate work. We offer guidance, insights, and constructive challenges to the business while managing the Investment Management and Sanctioning system (IMS2), our tailored IT solution.

The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with various stakeholders and teams across the organization, making strong networking and stakeholder management skills essential. This position is key to fostering continuous improvement and organizational learning within the Project community and the broader business. Key Responsibilities

In this position, the successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Challenge existing processes, share best practices, and contribute to planning, review, and approval meetings as necessary.
  • Conduct analyses to assess process performance, engagement levels, and the effectiveness of simplifications to pave the way for future success.
  • Review project documentation to ensure quality standards are met, capturing and disseminating lessons learned to relevant stakeholders to promote organizational learning.
  • Monitor adherence to processes across the fleet, providing insights into performance at both local and fleet levels, identifying and addressing gaps as needed.
  • Coordinate and participate in local and central Project Review Committees (PRCs) and Investment Approval Boards (IAB) as the secretariat, accurately documenting decisions while providing analysis and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure alignment of data and systems through proactive management of IMS2, including input for system upgrades and necessary changes.
  • Collaborate on the review and maintenance of the Project Delivery Process (PDP), including associated documentation and updates.
  • Support the Investment Planning process by offering guidance and coaching on the Investment Planning application.
  • Lead and assist in communicating updates, changes, and initiatives related to Investment Management.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and oversight to stakeholders throughout the organization regarding Investment Management processes and systems, sharing best practices.
  • Assist with ad-hoc requests, queries, improvements, analyses, and governance activities alongside other IMT team members.

  • Proficiency in software applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • The ability to cultivate relationships within the team and the wider organization, demonstrating rapport-building and networking skills.
  • An understanding of financial, project, and planning processes within a regulated environment; familiarity with specific gated project delivery processes and in-year investment processes is advantageous but not mandatory, as training will be provided.
  • A proven ability to meet deadlines with attention to detail and effective time management skills.
  • The capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, showcasing strong influencing and interpersonal skills.
