Position Overview

This role presents a unique opportunity to lead the strategic planning, delivery, and evaluation of psychological services focused on Traumatic Stress within the Health Board.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Professional Lead for Psychological Therapy and Traumatic Stress Wales, taking charge of the development and implementation of innovative practices aimed at enhancing service delivery for individuals facing psychological trauma.

The position entails managing a highly specialized caseload and providing supervision to team members engaged in trauma interventions.

Proficiency in Welsh is preferred; however, applications from both English and Welsh speakers are encouraged.

Job Duties

- Assume delegated responsibility for the professional leadership, strategic planning, systematic provision, and assessment of Traumatic Stress Psychological Services within the Health Board.

- Oversee the professional management of psychologists, assistant psychologists, and psychological therapists within the Traumatic Stress Service.

- Establish frameworks for interpreting broad clinical and professional policies, ensuring accountability for professional actions.

- Develop, interpret, and implement specific policies and service enhancements as required for the Traumatic Stress Service.

- Collaborate with the Lead for Psychological Therapies and Traumatic Stress Wales to enhance psychological therapy provisions and ensure clinical governance processes are effectively implemented.

- Manage a highly specialized clinical caseload of clients with complex and enduring mental health challenges stemming from traumatic experiences.

Qualifications & Expertise

Essential Requirements

  • Doctoral-level training in psychology
  • Registration as a practitioner psychologist with the HCPC
  • Formal training in leadership
  • Extensive additional training and study in Traumatic Stress
  • Significant experience applying specialized knowledge in Traumatic Stress
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and its implications for practice

Desirable Qualifications

  • Advanced research training
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals or books

Experience

Essential Experience

  • Extensive post-qualification experience in Traumatic Stress services
  • Sufficient experience to meet the criteria for a consultant-grade position
