Job Overview

We are excited to announce a vacancy for a Lead Nurse position within our Acute Medical Unit (AMU). We seek a passionate, motivated, and dedicated individual to join our dynamic team in a 20-bed unit that specializes in managing a variety of acute medical conditions.

Our unit receives direct admissions from the Emergency Department, ensuring a diverse and fast-paced environment. With a typical patient stay of less than 48 hours, the role requires effective coordination and management of patient flow to ensure timely discharges and admissions to specialty wards.

The ideal candidate will exhibit strong leadership qualities and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care, while also supporting junior staff and contributing to the overall ward management. We encourage you to develop your unique leadership style and will provide opportunities for external training in clinical skills and leadership development.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee the coordination and delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care by assessing nursing needs.

- Mentor and guide junior staff and nursing students, fostering their professional development.

- Implement and monitor clinical practice standards through auditing, research, and teaching initiatives to enhance care quality.

- Drive and facilitate change within the unit to improve patient outcomes.

Experience and Skills Required

Essential

  • Proven experience in change management
  • Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience
  • Diverse clinical background with experience in caring for acutely unwell adults
