Position Overview

We are pleased to announce a rewarding opportunity within our acute adult inpatient mental health services for a Clinical Ward Supervisor. This role is situated within a male acute ward dedicated to providing care for working-aged adults.

We seek an individual who is ready to lead with innovation, dedicated to enhancing the experiences of patients and their families, and who will inspire and guide the team towards ongoing improvement through the development of collaborative pathways across mental health services and with partner organizations in the acute care, voluntary, and community sectors.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Delivering and coordinating high-quality care for patients within the Adult Mental Health Acute Care Service.
  • Assisting the Team Manager in staff management, ensuring adherence to quality standards, implementing policies, managing transitions, and fostering innovation.
  • Delegating tasks to team members and acting as the responsible clinician to ensure that care requirements are met effectively.
  • Administering medication in accordance with organizational policies and professional guidelines.
  • Maintaining necessary administrative information systems.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Mental Health Act.
  • Regularly serving as the duty nurse, shift coordinator, and nurse in charge of the unit.
  • Influencing and formulating new operational methods within the service.
  • Providing guidance, mentorship, and supervision to support staff as needed, facilitating relevant activities in the most suitable environment.
  • Acting as a role model for staff.
  • Offering consultation to staff on clinical and operational issues, providing expert advice on clinical and professional matters.
  • Ensuring that patient records are accurately maintained and that information is communicated in a coordinated manner.
