Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Nurse Leader to join our team as an Assistant Ward Manager at Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and manage a team of healthcare professionals in providing high-quality care to patients with complex mental health needs.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide and coordinate a high standard of care to patients within the Adult Mental Health Acute Care Service.
  • Support the Team Manager in the management of staff, meeting quality standards, implementing policy, managing change, and delivering innovation.
  • Delegate work to staff and be the responsible clinician that ensures care requirements are implemented satisfactorily.
  • Distribute medication in line with Trust policy and NMC guidelines.
  • Maintain administration information systems as required.
  • Comply with the correct implementation of the Mental Health Act.
  • Regularly act as the duty nurse, shift coordinator, and nurse in charge of the unit.
  • Formulate and influence new ways of working within the service.
  • Guide, mentor, and supervise supporting staff as required, facilitating ongoing or functionally relevant activities in the most appropriate setting.
  • Act as a role model to staff.
  • Act as a consultant to staff on clinical and operational matters, providing advice on clinical and professional matters.
  • Ensure that patient records are maintained and that information is passed on in a coordinated manner.
Requirements
  • 2 years' experience minimum as a Band 5 nurse.
  • Registration with a professional body.
  • Experience of working as a senior nurse level.
  • Clinical experience, including experience of risk assessment, assessing patients, and creating and implementing care plans.
  • Experience of working with people with complex mental health needs.
