About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Stroke Medicine Specialist to join our team at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant in Acute Stroke Care, you will play a key role in delivering and developing our comprehensive stroke service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the delivery of a consultant-led comprehensive acute stroke service, including early liaison with emergency departments, supporting thrombolysis, and working closely with stroke coordinators to recognize stroke and stroke mimics early.
  • Participate in on-call rotas and contribute to the TIA service by assisting in the provision of a daily TIA clinic and enabling follow-up of all patients at one month.
  • Support the lead clinician for stroke in furthering service developments and provide support for stroke clinical governance, participating in clinical guidelines development, audit, and continuing professional development.
  • Aid and facilitate the rapid transfer of stroke patients from the hospital to rehabilitation units.
  • Help develop all aspects of stroke services, including training of junior medical and therapy/nursing staff.
  • Represent the Trust at clinical advisory group meetings and other relevant meetings.
