Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist to join our team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical services, leading a team of healthcare professionals, and contributing to the development of our ophthalmic department.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Clinical Leadership: Provide effective leadership to the Corneal service, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients.
  2. Teaching and Research: Develop and implement teaching programs, conduct research, and contribute to the development of our ophthalmic department.
  3. Service Development: Work with the department to develop and implement strategies to improve patient care and services.
  4. Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including clinical audits and risk management.
  5. Education and Training: Provide educational programs for junior medical staff, including clinical meetings and tutorials.
Requirements
  1. Medical Qualifications: Possess a medical degree and relevant postgraduate qualifications.
  2. Experience: Have significant experience in ophthalmology, with a strong background in corneal services.
  3. Leadership Skills: Demonstrate effective leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead a team of healthcare professionals.
  4. Communication Skills: Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, staff, and other stakeholders.
