About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist to join our Mental Health Liaison Team at Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide senior clinical leadership to the Mental Health Liaison Team, reviewing complex patients in the medical/surgical wards and offering supervision and advice to non-medical colleagues and Core/Advanced Trainees.
  • Act as Responsible Clinician for GRH/CGH inpatients who are detained under the MHA to the general hospitals.
  • Attend Mental Health Assessments for general hospital inpatients during normal working hours alongside colleagues.
  • Run a Medically Unexplained Symptoms Clinic once per week.
  • Take a lead for psychiatric assessment and management of all age patients with disordered eating admitted to the acute Trust.
  • Provide support and oversight to medical colleagues in care of these patients, and work closely with colleagues from the eating disorders service.

Requirements
  • GMC registered, on specialist register or eligible (or within 6 months of application)
  • MRCPsych completed or equivalent
  • S12 (or eligible for) Approved Clinician status (or eligible for)
  • Higher specialist training or equivalent in Adult General Psychiatry
  • Experience of Liaison working at consultant or senior level (desirable)
