Trainee Cardiac Physiologist - Apprenticeship Opportunity - Band 5 Annex 21

We are thrilled to announce an opportunity for two enthusiastic individuals to become part of our vibrant team of Cardiac Physiologists.

As an apprentice, you will embark on a journey in Health Care Science at Manchester Metropolitan University. Successfully completing this apprenticeship will equip you with the essential skills needed to advance to a Band 6 position.

Ideal candidates will be self-driven, well-organized, and possess exceptional interpersonal abilities. You should be capable of prioritizing tasks and demonstrating initiative. A flexible mindset and willingness to travel between various sites within the Trust are essential. The ability to perform under pressure and collaborate effectively within a team is crucial.

Key Responsibilities

You will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic services. Your duties will include performing ECGs, conducting ambulatory monitoring, executing autonomic function tests, and participating in doctor and physiologist-led exercise tolerance tests, tilt table tests, and nuclear medicine perfusion scans within the Cardio-Respiratory Department. Additionally, you will assist in the Catheter Lab with procedures such as Coronary Angiography and Pacemaker Implantation, along with follow-up clinics for Pacemaker patients.

This role will require you to work across various locations within Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, including multiple hospitals and community diagnostic hubs.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Education

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum of 120 UCAS points at A-level (grades BBB), including a grade C in biology, human biology, or an equivalent subject.
  • Up-to-date continuous professional development.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Desirable Criteria

  • GCSEs in Mathematics and English Language (A*-C).
  • Previous degree in a science-related field.
  • SCST certification.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Experience working as a cardiac physiologist.
  • Some experience in supervising and training other staff members.
  • Evidence of clinical competence in non-invasive cardiology.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in managing your own workload and time effectively.
