Preston, Lancashire, United Kingdom Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Full time

Job Overview

Are you a dedicated registered Diagnostic Radiographer with a passion for Angiography and a desire to work in a Cardiac Catheterization Lab? This position offers a unique opportunity to join a collaborative and supportive multi-disciplinary team primarily operating in our advanced Cardiac Cath Labs.

While prior experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology is beneficial, it is not a requirement as we are committed to providing comprehensive training and support for candidates eager to enhance their expertise in this specialty.

This is a full-time role consisting of 37.5 hours per week, with potential for rotation into other areas such as Fluoroscopy and Interventional Radiology.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will conduct a diverse range of radiographic procedures on patients, ensuring high imaging standards and delivering exceptional patient care within the team. As a Radiographer in a multidisciplinary environment, you will play a crucial role in maintaining compliance with both IRMER and IRR regulations. This position is classified as Band 6, and you will be tasked with coordinating workloads and prioritizing patient care in collaboration with fellow team members.

As a Band 6 Specialist Radiographer, you are expected to exhibit strong leadership and motivational abilities, effective communication skills, and the capacity to work independently or as part of a team. You should demonstrate excellent organizational skills and maintain a high standard of technical proficiency and patient care.

You must be a HCPC registered Radiographer and possess a BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or DCR, with a flexible approach to meeting departmental needs.

Working with Us

At Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, we pride ourselves on having a dedicated workforce of 10,000 individuals committed to delivering quality healthcare services. Your role will contribute to the care of 370,000 local residents and provide specialized services to 1.5 million individuals across the region.

Joining our team means gaining valuable knowledge and a sense of pride in knowing that your contributions directly impact patient care and support our staff in delivering outstanding healthcare.

You will have access to various development opportunities, allowing you to acquire new skills, engage with diverse colleagues, and explore new career pathways. Your role will challenge you to think innovatively and help drive improvements in patient care.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities

You will be part of a core group of Specialist Radiographers supporting procedures in the Cardiac Cath Labs alongside cardiologists, nurses, and Cardio-physiologists. The team is responsible for conducting coronary angiography and pacemaker insertions, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and experience. The unit is equipped with state-of-the-art Philips Allura C-arms, with plans for future upgrades. As the Trust serves as both a Neuro and Vascular regional center, you will have opportunities to expand your skills by rotating into Neuro intervention or Interventional Radiology suites.

Duties Include, but are not Limited to:

  • Assist the Lead Radiographer in managing the area effectively, including personnel and facilities.
  • Serve as a role model, promoting a positive image of the team and organization.
  • Coordinate care delivery through professional practice and supervision of junior staff.

  • Proactively manage risks and uphold patient safety in accordance with relevant legislation and guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and healthcare professionals to ensure clear dissemination of information.
  • Promote equality in care by recognizing and respecting individual needs and preferences.
  • Ensure a safe and well-equipped environment that complies with hygiene and cleanliness standards.
