Cardiac Physiologist - Apprenticeship - Band 5 Annex 21

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two highly motivated individuals to join our dynamic team of Cardiac Physiologists.

You will be required to undertake an apprenticeship in Health Care Science at a recognized institution. Completion of the apprenticeship will equip you with the essential skills to potentially advance to a Band 6 position.

We are looking for self-motivated and well-organized candidates with excellent interpersonal skills. You should possess the ability to prioritize tasks and demonstrate initiative. A flexible attitude and willingness to travel between various sites are essential. You must be capable of working under pressure and effectively collaborating within a team.

Main Duties of the Job

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will deliver high-quality diagnostic and treatment services, including performing ECGs, ambulatory monitoring, autonomic function testing, doctor and physiologist-led exercise tolerance tests, tilt table testing, and nuclear medicine perfusion scans within the Cardio-Respiratory Department. Additionally, you will assist in the Catheter Lab with procedures such as coronary angiography and pacemaker implantation, as well as follow-up clinics for pacemaker patients.

The role will require you to work across various sites within the healthcare system, including multiple hospitals and community diagnostic hubs.

Qualifications & Education

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum of 120 UCAS points at A-level (grades BBB) including A-level grade C in biology, human biology, or an equivalent.
  • Up-to-date continual professional development.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Desirable Criteria

  • GCSE in Mathematics and English Language (A*-C).
  • Previous science degree.
  • SCST certification.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Experience as a cardiac physiologist.
  • Some experience in supervising and training other staff.
  • Evidence of clinical competence in non-invasive cardiology.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in managing your own workload and time effectively.
