Job Overview

An experienced and proactive Advanced Practitioner Reporting Radiographer is required for a pivotal role within our organization.

This position involves overseeing a dedicated team of Advanced Practitioner Reporting Radiographers and trainees, ensuring the delivery of high-quality imaging services.

You will be instrumental in developing services that enhance patient pathways and support the ongoing professional growth of the team, while remaining attuned to national healthcare trends.

Collaboration with the Principal Radiographer for X-Ray will be essential to elevate image quality and facilitate effective training for radiographers.

As a champion for Advanced Practice, you will represent our organization at both regional and national forums.

Main Responsibilities

In this role, you will lead, develop, and manage the Reporting service, ensuring that the team operates with the utmost expertise. This includes:

  • Leading the enhancement and maintenance of core competencies within the Reporting Radiographers team through advanced education and specialized knowledge.
  • Providing expert advice on reporting issues and keeping service managers updated on relevant matters.
  • Overseeing clinical supervision and management of the Reporting team's activities while contributing to the management of the radiology budget through effective staffing compliance.
  • Supporting the efficient allocation of resources and contributing to the Radiology Financial Improvement Plan (FIP) by identifying areas for enhancement and participating in the development of business cases.

Detailed Job Description and Key Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the specialized service effectively, including oversight of personnel, facilities, and associated systems and processes.
  • Ensure the delivery and coordination of care through appropriate professional practices, delegation, and supervision of team members.
  • Establish, monitor, and uphold standards of care to enhance patient experiences and outcomes.
  • Proactively manage risks and lead governance initiatives within specialized areas, ensuring patient safety in compliance with health, safety, and security regulations.
  • Facilitate research-based practices within the department.
  • Implement systems for the development, education, and training of staff and students to meet evolving service needs.
  • Engage in workforce planning activities.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • BSc in Radiography
  • MSc in a relevant specialist subject or extensive equivalent experience
  • HCPC registration
  • Management qualification - ILM level 4 or extensive equivalent experience

Desirable Criteria

  • Involvement in special interest groups

Knowledge

Essential Criteria

  • Extensive independent clinical practice and leadership in specialty supported by CPD
  • Experience in leading a team and supervising staff
  • Understanding of challenges in a busy Radiology teaching and research environment
  • Knowledge of booking and capacity planning
  • Familiarity with IR(ME)R and IRR/MHRA regulations
  • Understanding of Clinical Governance and its relevance to practice
  • Awareness of relevant policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of ethical considerations in practice

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience and knowledge in multimodality
  • Experience in budget management
  • Involvement in research and development initiatives
  • Experience in planning and commissioning new equipment
