Position Overview

Summary:

The Investment Operations team plays a crucial role in managing the European Agency and Private Debt transaction closure processes, along with overseeing all settlement activities within the European Capital Market funds and Managed Accounts. This function encompasses a diverse range of asset classes, including but not limited to Loans, Bonds, Structured Credit, Derivatives, and Foreign Exchange. The team is dedicated to ensuring the successful completion of both primary and secondary par and distressed loans associated with the Ares European Private Debt funds, Capital Market funds, and Managed Accounts. Collaboration with Counterparties, Trustees, Custodians, Agent Banks, and Clients is essential to guarantee the timely settlement of all transactions. The team also actively manages an Agency Portfolio and maintains close interactions with the Front Office, as well as various Middle and Back Office departments and outsourced service providers on a daily basis and for special projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the efficiency of post-closing activities across Deal Teams, Legal Advisors, Trustees, Administrators, and other internal stakeholders involved in Direct Lending transactions.
  • Support the review and negotiation of operational aspects of Credit Agreements for upsizes, Amendments, Restructurings, and Refinancings, with a focus on operational compatibility and risk management.
  • Assist in the creation of Funds Flows and coordinate with finance and trustees regarding fund movements, ensuring knowledge of payment formats and currency cut-off times.
  • Understand the role of Facility Agent, including cash/PIK calculations, repayment mechanisms, and participation in LMA initiatives.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely recording of upsizes and amendments, serving as an escalation point for discrepancies across Ares entities.
  • Collaborate with relevant team members and internal departments (e.g., Finance, Investment Accounting, Loan Servicing) to manage restructurings and complex financial arrangements.
  • Oversee workflows and controls with our Sub Agent vendor to maintain oversight and approval for outsourced functions.
  • Identify processes to transition to our India Operations team, providing clear requirements and training support.
  • Contribute to the Standard Operating Procedures for Operations in London, identifying areas for process improvement and participating in the implementation of approved changes.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or a related field is preferred.

Required Expertise:

  • Familiarity with LMA bank loans, particularly in relation to Agency considerations.
  • Experience in middle office technology and workflow management.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Visio, and Microsoft Office; knowledge of Microsoft Teams is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Advent-Geneva, Everest Black Mountain, and Wall Street Office is advantageous.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in financial services, with a minimum of 3 years in credit roles within wholesale banking, Buyside, or credit risk management.
  • Experience in managing outsourcing workflows and overseeing third-party vendors and offshore teams.
  • Expertise in risk analysis and management processes for various products and lending areas.
  • Understanding of credit and syndication processes, including governing documentation such as credit agreements and ancillary documents.
  • Ability to assist with team projects, demonstrating coordination and communication skills across multiple stakeholders to ensure project completion.

Reports to the Vice President of Investment Operations.
