Position: Portfolio Associate - Asset Management

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a global development institution dedicated to financing sustainable infrastructure projects across Asia and beyond. Department Overview:
The Portfolio Management Department (PMD) plays a crucial role in overseeing the execution of AIIB-funded initiatives. This includes providing administrative support, managing risks, and ensuring quality assurance for a rapidly expanding portfolio primarily composed of non-sovereign-backed projects. The department is committed to aligning its investment processes with international best practices to ensure timely and high-quality project implementation that meets the Bank's strategic objectives.

Role Summary:
The Portfolio Associate - Asset Management will report directly to the Manager of Project and Asset Management within PMD. This role is pivotal in assisting Portfolio Management Officers (PMOs) in the active oversight and management of loan, guarantee, and bond projects assigned to PMD, ensuring alignment with AIIB's strategic goals regarding development impact and financial viability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support senior PMOs in executing various monitoring tasks at both project and portfolio levels, including:
    • Assisting in the evaluation of loan assets provided to financial institutions, involving the analysis of financial statements and the preparation of financial models for stress testing.
    • Preparing and updating implementation monitoring reports, reviewing compliance documents, and identifying issues requiring management attention.
    • Monitoring borrower compliance with financial covenants and reporting requirements, addressing any deviations with the supervisor.
    • Assessing compliance with disbursement conditions and coordinating with project stakeholders as necessary.
    • Drafting memos for processing consents and amendments under the guidance of senior PMOs.
    • Conducting analytical tasks related to operational and sectoral issues within the loan portfolio.
    • Contributing to the preparation of quarterly and annual Portfolio Monitoring Reports for senior management and the Board.
    • Participating in project review meetings and documenting discussions as required.
    • Performing additional duties as assigned by PMD.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in appraising and monitoring financial institution loan assets, with a focus on due diligence and financial analysis.
  • A Master's degree in finance, business administration, chartered accountancy, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of the performance analysis of international financial institutions.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, with experience in financial modeling being advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly and effectively.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with team members and contribute positively to team dynamics.
