Position Overview:

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is a premier institution in the field of public health education.

We are seeking to appoint a HR Advisor within our Human Resources division.

Your role will involve collaborating with the HR Partner Team to deliver a comprehensive and professional HR service to both management and staff throughout the institution. Key responsibilities will encompass:

  • Interpreting and applying policies, procedures, and legal obligations, while consulting with HR colleagues as necessary.
  • Assisting HR Partners with employee relations matters, including notetaking during formal discussions and ensuring the accurate and efficient compilation of minutes and other sensitive documents.
  • Supporting the preparation of formal investigation documentation, grievance procedures, and disciplinary hearings.

Additionally, you will engage in HR project initiatives and provide expert guidance on various HR matters, including:

  • Contractual inquiries
  • Employee relations issues
  • HR policies and procedural guidelines

You will also assume responsibility for the informal stages of employee relations cases as delegated.

The ideal candidate will possess a CIPD qualification or be working towards a CIPD graduate level, or have equivalent professional experience, along with a current understanding of employment legislation and its practical application. You should have a proven track record of delivering proactive and responsive HR advice, demonstrating effective problem-solving skills across a diverse range of issues with competing priorities. Experience in supporting the rollout of new procedures and updates is also essential.

This is a full-time position, requiring 35 hours per week, and is fixed-term for up to one year to cover maternity leave.

The salary is positioned on the Professional Services salary scale, Grade 5, ranging from £38,282 to £43,947 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The role will adhere to the LSHTM terms and conditions of employment. Employees are entitled to 30 days of annual leave per year, pro rata for part-time staff, along with additional discretionary 'Wellbeing Days'. Participation in the Pension Scheme is also available.
