Role Objective:

To deliver a superior training and support service for a designated group of apprentices. Ensure a comprehensive assessment service that meets NVQ and framework completion standards. Provide high-quality instructional services for apprentices to fulfill NVQ and framework completion criteria.

Main Responsibilities:

Training Specialist

  • Implement a recruitment strategy to attract qualified candidates for training programs.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Training Centre Coordinator to assist with Initial Assessments, organize recruitment efforts, and conduct induction sessions.
  • Complete Pre-Placement Assessments for both new and existing employers.
  • Conduct apprentice evaluations, ensuring compliance with minimum contractual obligations.
  • Mentor and guide apprentices throughout their training, supporting the achievement of the Apprenticeship Framework within specified timelines.
  • Provide pastoral care and safeguarding for apprentices to enhance their well-being.
  • Foster a customer-centric approach, addressing training needs and concerns raised by employers and apprentices promptly and professionally.
  • Update administrative documents in accordance with contractual guidelines and deadlines.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, assisting with industry events and committees.
  • Stay informed about sector developments to enhance expertise and maintain professional knowledge.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as directed by the Regional Manager.
Plumbing and Gas Instructor

  • Deliver Technical Certificate levels 2 and 3, preparing teaching materials as necessary.
  • Evaluate apprentice assignments in line with the course syllabus.
  • Ensure accurate records of learner attendance, punctuality, and progress are maintained. Prepare reports and communicate with the relevant Training Officer regarding attendance, progress, or disciplinary issues.
  • Coordinate with Technician/Store staff to ensure adequate materials and equipment for course delivery.
  • Supervise training sessions, ensuring high standards of apprentice discipline.
  • Safeguard the welfare and safety of apprentices at all times.
  • Collaborate with internal and external inspection bodies, responding to reasonable requests.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Regional Manager.
Internal Verification Responsibilities

  • Conduct interim and final Internal Verification of the Level 2 Technical Certificate.
  • Ensure compliance with awarding body standards, coordinating and managing plumbing Training Centre External Verification visits.

Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:

  • Advanced Craft Certificate in Plumbing, Plumbing NVQ3 or equivalent.
  • Relevant Level 3 Gas qualification or equivalent, with a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience.
  • Certificate in Education or equivalent.
  • On-the-job experience.
  • Strong Presentation Skills.
  • Proficient IT Skills.
  • Two years' plumbing experience within a mechanical services organization following the achievement of the appropriate qualification.
  • Valid Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.
*Desirable Qualifications:

  • GCSE English A-C, NVQ level 2, O-Level A-D or equivalent.
  • Understanding of Further Education.
  • Health & Safety qualification (IOSH Managing Safely).
  • Assessor qualifications (D32, D33, A1 or TAQA).
  • Internal Verifier qualifications (D34, V1 or IQA).
  • Knowledge of the Contracting Industry / Building and Services Industry.
