Job Introduction
We're currently seeking an experienced Electrical Network Specialist to join our team. As an Electrical Network Specialist, you'll be responsible for the installation and commissioning of complex electrical systems on our distribution network. You'll work closely with our team to ensure that our systems are running efficiently and safely, and that our customers receive the best possible service.
Main Responsibilities
- Installation and commissioning of complex electrical systems on our distribution network
- Installation, commissioning, and maintenance of complex protection and automation systems
- Location and restoration of complex faults on our distribution network
- Development of skills in the use of fault location and protection testing equipment
- Advice and guidance to colleagues on innovations in electricity network management and automation
- Identification of training needs of colleagues and provision of training as necessary on automation
- Liaison with other specialists within the company
- Training of colleagues on the operational aspects of automatic systems
- Keeping up-to-date with equipment and automation system developments
- Determination of short-term work plans within known constraints
- Carrying out network operations, including the issue of safety documents up to 66kV
- Determination of what is required and how the work will be carried out
- Issue of planned shutdown notices and making appointments with customers
- Exercise of leadership and requesting assistance when outside capability or authority
- Alteration of short-term programme to meet changes in circumstances, within constraints
- Assistance with the assessment and authorisation of operational staff
Ideal Candidate
We're looking for an experienced Electrical Network Specialist who is mobile throughout the area and has a flexible attitude. You'll need to be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You'll also need to be able to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in electrical network management and automation.
Requirements
- English and Maths GCSE Grade C/Level 4 or above, or Functional Skills Level 2 or above
- Level 3 City & Guilds 2339 qualification
- Ability to undertake HNC Electrical and Electronic Engineering
