About the Role
FPCR Environment and Design Limited is seeking an experienced Senior to Principal Bat Ecologist to join our busy ecology department within our Exeter office.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex ecological projects, providing technical advice to clients across various sectors.
- Develop and implement effective project management strategies, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share knowledge and best practices, promoting a culture of excellence within the team.
- Conduct thorough ecological assessments, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), Ecological Impact Assessments (EIAs), and Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRAs).
- Prepare and present high-quality reports, including Species and Habitat Management Plans, to clients and stakeholders.
- Stay up-to-date with relevant legislation, policies, and industry developments, ensuring compliance and best practice.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and delivering tailored solutions.
Requirements
- Degree-level qualification in Ecology or a related field.
- Full Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or equivalent.
- Level 2 Bat Licence.
- Minimum 3 years of project management experience, with excellent client liaison skills.
- Good knowledge of best practice survey techniques, relevant wildlife legislation, and protected species licensing.
- Advanced knowledge of ecology and wildlife protection in the context of the UK planning system.
- Experience in advising clients on Biodiversity Net Gain, including production of Biodiversity Impact Assessments (BIAs) and use of the DEFRA metric.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A full, clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
