About the Role

FPCR Environment and Design Limited is seeking an experienced Senior to Principal Bat Ecologist to join our busy ecology department within our Exeter office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead complex ecological projects, providing technical advice to clients across various sectors.
  • Develop and implement effective project management strategies, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share knowledge and best practices, promoting a culture of excellence within the team.
  • Conduct thorough surveys and assessments, identifying and mitigating potential ecological impacts.
  • Prepare and submit high-quality reports, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, and Habitats Regulations Assessments.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant legislation, policies, and industry developments, ensuring compliance and best practice.

Requirements

  • Degree-level qualification in Ecology or a related field.
  • Full Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or equivalent.
  • Level 2 Bat Licence.
  • Minimum 3 years of project management experience, with excellent client liaison skills.
  • Good knowledge of best practice survey techniques, relevant wildlife legislation, and protected species licensing.
  • Advanced knowledge of ecology and wildlife protection in the context of the UK planning system.
  • Experience in advising clients on Biodiversity Net Gain, including production of Biodiversity Impact Assessments and use of the DEFRA metric.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A full, clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
