Job Title: Health, Safety and Environmental Manager

We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to join our team on a permanent basis.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing directional support to the Business in the Planning, Measuring, Reviewing and auditing of Environment, Health & Safety activities to meet legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide strategic support to the Business in the development and implementation of Environment, Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  2. Set minimum standards of Environment, Health & Safety Practices where needed and advise management of best practices within the industry.
  3. Contribute to the continuous improvement in business performance.
  4. Achieve and maintain an appropriate recognised standard of competency and undertake continuing professional development.
  5. Contribute to the development of the site health & safety plan and the monitoring of performance.
  6. Develop and help implement Group EHS Policy & standards.
  7. Ensure that the site Health & Safety Policy is kept up to date and reviewed as necessary.
  8. Ensure systems are in place to capture and promote the reporting of safety concerns and implementation of corrective actions.
  9. Collate and analyse accident statistics and performance information.
  10. Provide advice and assistance to the management team to help them achieve their responsibilities, identify hazards and eliminate and control risks.
  11. Advise management on how to implement a suitable and effective site audit programme and undertake site audits of the safety management system to ensure it remains effective.
  12. Keep up to date with new EHS legislation, company and other environmental and safety information and brief the management team accordingly.
  13. Ensure lines of communication are established with local enforcement agencies and emergency services.
  14. Attend Health and Safety Committee Meetings and provide training for the committee where needed.
  15. Work with the HR Manager to identify the health and safety training needs and participate as appropriate in such training.
  16. Assist the HR Manager monitor the effectiveness of the safety management system.
  17. Co-ordinate all matters relating to fire precautions and other emergency matters.
  18. Champion energy efficiency & environmental activities.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum NEBOSH Diploma or IOSH.
  2. Sound background in and experience of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements, within a manufacturing / production environment.

This role could also suit people with previous experience as a Health & Safety Quality Advisor / HSEQ / QHSE / Health & Safety Manager / Health & Safety Quality Advisor / SHEQ / HSQE / HSEQ / QHSE / Health Safety and Environmental Adviser / H&S Co-ordinator / HSE Officer / Health Safety and Environmental Advisor / EHS Manager / EHS Advisor / HSE Advisor / Environmental Health and Safety Manager.
