About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join our team at NHS Dorset. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of our financial processes, contributing to accurate reporting and effective decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain efficient procedures for financial operations, prioritizing accuracy, timeliness, and maximum efficiency.
  • Utilize leading financial management systems, including SBS, Business Intelligence, and Caretrack, to process, manage, and analyze financial data. Your expertise will be instrumental in generating accurate management financial reports.
  • Actively contribute to identifying, analyzing, and mitigating potential financial risks within the organization.
  • Take on project assignments as needed, demonstrating your adaptability and willingness to contribute to diverse initiatives.
  • Provide support to other team members during periods of absence, ensuring seamless workflow and continuity.
  • During year-end processes, be prepared to dedicate additional hours to meet the demands of this critical period.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Essential Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively, set priorities, and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Excellent keyboarding skills, ensuring accuracy and speed in data entry.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative within your designated responsibilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Proven tact and diplomacy in interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to assess situations, identify solutions, and conduct financial appraisals.
  • Familiarity with IT systems, including SBS and Business Intelligence.
  • Flexible approach and willingness to collaborate effectively as part of a team in a challenging environment.
  • Essential Qualifications:
  • Part-qualified (Finalist/Diploma) Professional Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB) Accountancy Qualification.
  • Fully qualified AAT or actively pursuing full AAT qualification / Proven Professional Accountancy qualification at NVQ level 4.
  • Essential Experience:
  • Recent experience in a comparable role, demonstrating your expertise at a similar level.
  • Proven track record of working under pressure to meet strict deadlines and deliver results effectively.
  • Experience interacting with internal and external stakeholders using a customer-focused approach.
  • Experience working within the NHS or local government sector.
