Position Overview

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a highly regarded, multidisciplinary team within the Integrated Pain and Spinal Service (IPASS). We are seeking a motivated and forward-thinking individual for a permanent position as a Senior Spinal Physiotherapy Specialist. This position may be considered as a developmental role, transitioning from Band 7 to Band 8a upon successful completion of required competencies based on experience.

As a Senior Spinal Physiotherapy Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional assessments and guiding the management of individuals suffering from spinal-related discomfort. The ideal candidate will possess advanced physiotherapy skills and a strong commitment to enhancing their expertise, alongside the ability to conduct thorough evaluations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of spinal conditions and non-musculoskeletal sources of pain, including but not limited to rheumatological, neurological, vascular, oncological, and chronic pain issues.
  • Engage in case discussions with spinal specialists to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Coordinate necessary diagnostic procedures, such as blood tests and MRI scans.
  • Communicate management plans to patients with empathy and understanding.
  • Provide high-level supervision and mentorship to staff within the musculoskeletal physiotherapy services.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in physiotherapy.
  • A Master's degree or relevant postgraduate qualification in a specialized field.
  • Completion of accredited courses enabling practice at an advanced level.
  • Significant postgraduate training in relevant specialties, demonstrating advanced knowledge and skills.
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience in clinical leadership and supervision within a physiotherapy context.
