Position Overview:

Venesky-Brown is seeking a dedicated Senior Finance Business Partner – Capital to join a public sector organization. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement and is designed for a contract engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the strategic and operational management of Financial Services, including the closure of accounts and the preparation of the Statement of Accounts.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop team members, ensuring objectives are met and enhancing overall performance and morale.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Organization's Performance Appraisal and Development Programme within the finance team.
  • Ensure compliance with financial statutory obligations and stay updated on changing legal requirements.
  • Manage financial support for securing resources, analyzing complex financial and non-financial data.
  • Assist in designing and delivering tailored financial training programs for officers.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction aligns with the Accountancy business plan.
  • Support the timely closedown of accounts by reviewing processes and timelines.
  • Manage finance projects as assigned and provide financial direction to all Service and Support Directorates.
  • Act as a deputy for the Strategic Finance Business Partner when necessary.
  • Ensure timely financial controls and assist in Balance Sheet Monitoring and reporting.
  • Support the accurate reporting of financial performance and maintain effective budget controls.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and governance standards.

General Responsibilities:

Essential Qualifications:

  • CCAB Qualified with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Experience in preparing annual accounts and producing the Statement of Accounts.
  • Proven leadership and management skills.
  • Expertise in Financial Planning, Control, and Reporting.
  • Experience in developing financial processes and delivering training.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to negotiate at high levels.
  • Understanding of local government finance and its complexities.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of accounting policies and regulations.
  • Able to inspire and motivate teams while fostering a positive work environment.
  • Analytical skills to address complex issues and deliver tailored support.
  • Innovative thinking to tackle service challenges.
  • Commitment to collaborative working across services.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in spreadsheets and reporting tools.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Management qualification.
  • Experience in local government finance.
  • Experience in partnership working across sectors.
  • Training delivery experience for diverse groups.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
