Position Overview:

Venesky-Brown is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Senior Finance Business Partner – Capital. This position is integral to the financial management within a public sector organization, focusing on capital projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the strategic and operational oversight of Financial Services, including the closure of accounts and the preparation of the Statement of Accounts.
  • Lead, inspire, and develop team members, ensuring that objectives are met and performance is optimized.
  • Implement and monitor the Organization's Performance Appraisal and Development Programme within the finance team.
  • Ensure compliance with financial statutory obligations and stay updated on legal mandates affecting the organization.
  • Oversee the provision of financial support for securing resources, analyzing complex financial data, and assessing business options.
  • Assist in designing and delivering tailored financial training for staff.
  • Enhance customer satisfaction levels to align with the Accountancy business plan.
  • Support the closedown of accounts by reviewing processes and timelines to meet established deadlines.
  • Manage finance projects as assigned and provide financial direction to all Service and Support Directorates.
  • Act as a deputy for the Strategic Finance Business Partner when necessary.
  • Ensure timely execution of financial controls and assist in monitoring and reporting on the Balance Sheet.
  • Support the accurate reporting of financial performance and maintain effective budget controls.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and governance standards.

General Responsibilities:

Essential Qualifications:

  • CCAB Qualified with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Experience in preparing annual accounts and producing the Statement of Accounts.
  • Proven leadership and management skills in finance.
  • Expertise in Financial Planning, Control, and Reporting.
  • Experience in developing financial processes and delivering training.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Understanding of local government finance and its complexities.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of accounting policies and regulations.
  • Able to motivate and lead a diverse team, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Strong analytical skills to address complex financial issues.
  • Proficient in IT applications relevant to finance.

  • Experience in delivering training to varied audiences.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
