Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated therapist to lead our Under 5s Social Communication Pathway in Tower Hamlets. This position combines the roles of expert clinician with service and staff development, team leadership, and multi-disciplinary working.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a specialist intervention pathway for children with social communication difficulties under 5 years old.
  • Work closely with other therapy leads to ensure effective provision for children with social communication differences.
  • Provide advice as part of the education, health, and care needs assessment process.
  • Lead on the pathway, working closely with other therapy staff and partners in the borough.
Requirements
  • Experience of working with children with social communication difficulties in a community setting.
  • Experience of working with children in special or mainstream schools.
  • Experience of using research and evidence base to support families.
  • Experience of working with children with a range of developmental difficulties and their families.
  • Experience of working with families with different cultural backgrounds and home languages.
  • Experience of audit, quality improvement, and service development.
  • Experience of line managing colleagues.
  • Experience of leading and managing a team.
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience of managing change.
  • Experience of project management with multiple stakeholders.
  • Involvement in research projects.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Self-motivated.
  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Digital literacy skills equivalent to Level 2 across all domains in the NHS Health and Care Digital Capabilities Framework.
Qualifications and Training
  • Qualified speech and language therapist or occupational therapist.
  • Training in autism-specific interventions.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to Social Communication Difficulties.
  • Coaching qualification.
  • Masters-level qualification.
