About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Inpatient Therapies Team as a Therapy Assistant Practitioner. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing therapy assessment, intervention, and discharge planning to patients in our hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake all aspects of clinical duties, including assessment, treatment, and discharge planning, under the supervision of qualified therapy staff.
  • Work to departmental standard operating procedures and clinical protocols to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Implement programmes of care, assess patient progress, and suggest changes to treatment plans within agreed competencies.
  • Manage clinical risk, clinical governance, and knowledge of indications and precautions of chosen techniques in line with National and Trust clinical guidelines and protocols.
  • Assess patients' capacity, gain valid informed consent to treatment, and work within a legal framework in the management of patients.
  • Undertake the assessment and treatment planning for patients identified within a specific and designated caseload.
  • Undertake physical treatment techniques utilizing developed manual skills.
  • Implement individualized clinical management programmes, utilizing a range of treatment skills and options to plan a suitable programme of care.
  • Use recognized outcome measures to evaluate the effect of Physiotherapy interventions and ensure that treatment programmes are progressing appropriately.
  • Provide information, teaching, and instruction to relatives, carers, other disciplines, and agencies to promote understanding of the aims of Physiotherapy and ensure continuation of the treatment programme.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary/multi-agency team meetings and case conferences to ensure the coordination of patient care.
  • Ensure accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date clinical records are maintained in accordance with Trust guidance and agreed criteria.
Requirements
  • Evidence of study to or attainment of NVQ Level III, relevant qualification, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Experience of working clinically in physiotherapy/occupational therapy services.
  • Experience of working in community settings.
  • IT experience.
