Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist to lead our Orthopaedic Occupational Therapy team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a Clinical Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of occupational therapy services within the trust, with a focus on improving patient outcomes and enhancing the overall quality of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Service Development
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve the quality and effectiveness of occupational therapy services within the trust.
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to identify areas for service improvement and develop solutions to address these needs.
    • Lead on the development and implementation of new occupational therapy services and programs.
  • Patient Care
    • Manage a caseload of patients with complex health and social care needs, providing specialist assessment, consultancy, and intervention to meet their occupational needs.
    • Work closely with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans that promote independence and well-being.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and make adjustments as needed to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Staff Management
    • Supervise and mentor a team of occupational therapists, providing guidance and support to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to deliver high-quality care.
    • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of occupational therapists within the team.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to occupational therapy practice within the trust.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Establish and maintain effective communication networks with patients, carers, multidisciplinary teams, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless care coordination.
    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement strategies to improve patient outcomes and enhance the overall quality of care.
  • Research and Quality Improvement
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of research projects and quality improvement initiatives within the trust.
    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to identify areas for quality improvement and develop solutions to address these needs.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field.
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in occupational therapy, with a focus on service development and leadership.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful service development projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on delivering high-quality care and improving patient outcomes.
