Position Overview
An exceptional opportunity exists for a Clinical Psychologist to become a vital member of a well-regarded and nurturing Early Intervention in Psychosis Team. This team is dedicated to supporting individuals experiencing their initial episode of psychosis, along with their families and caregivers, for a duration of up to three years. Only licensed Clinical Psychologists are encouraged to consider this role.
The selected candidate will engage directly with patients or service users. As part of our commitment to health and safety, we advocate for vaccination as the most effective means of safeguarding yourself, your family, your colleagues, and, importantly, the patients and service users within our healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities
The individual in this role will be responsible for:
- Conducting assessments and delivering evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for psychosis (CBTp) and psychological interventions tailored to this demographic, which includes individual, group, and family sessions.
- Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team, providing guidance and oversight on psychological methodologies pertinent to psychosis treatment.
- Offering formal, ongoing clinical supervision to junior staff as directed by the team leadership.
- Demonstrating experience in Early Intervention in Psychosis or a related field, with a solid understanding of the current national standards and objectives for Early Intervention in Psychosis services.
About the Organization
Serving the diverse inner London Boroughs, our team is in search of dynamic, innovative, and dependable professionals. The multidisciplinary team comprises a variety of practitioners, including Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Family Intervention Practitioners, Support Workers, and Vocational Specialists.

Clinical Duties
The role entails:
- Providing specialized psychological assessments for clients referred to the Early Intervention Service, utilizing a range of complex data sources, including psychological tests, self-report measures, and structured interviews.
- Supporting the implementation of Behavioral Family Interventions and CBTp in accordance with established guidelines for service users on the Early Intervention care pathway.
- Delivering evidence-based interventions to the families of service users experiencing their first episode of psychosis.
- Ensuring that services provided to users and their families are culturally sensitive and tailored to meet their needs, while upholding the highest standards of equality and anti-discriminatory practices.
- Contributing to comprehensive mental health assessments for service users and their families referred to the team.
Managerial Responsibilities
The post holder will also:
- Assist in fostering effective communication regarding the First Episode of Psychosis pathway between mental health services and external agencies.
- Lead initiatives to meet local and national objectives.
- Support the creation of a positive learning environment for clinical staff, ensuring access to professional standards and training opportunities.
- Help manage caseloads effectively and represent the Early Intervention team at local mental health forums.
- Identify areas for service improvement and collaborate with senior management to implement necessary changes.
Educational and Professional Development
The successful candidate will:
- Receive regular clinical supervision from a designated lead or head of profession.
- Be responsible for their own practice and professional development, supported by the trust's performance and appraisal policies.
- Maintain a professional portfolio in line with registration requirements.
- Provide consultation, supervision, and training to team members and related services.
Research and Evaluation
Contributions to the development and evaluation of operational policies and services will be expected, utilizing professional skills in research and audit.
