Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Engineer to join our Hs2 team in the Midlands. The successful candidate will have a strong background in construction or civil engineering and will be responsible for managing the engineering aspects of a project, ensuring that works are constructed to the contract drawings, specifications, procedures, and plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Manage the engineering aspects of a project, ensuring that works are constructed to the contract drawings, specifications, procedures, and plans.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of site and trainee engineers, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Engineering Expertise: Provide technical expertise and guidance on engineering matters, including reinforced concrete structures, heavy civils, bridges, structures, basements, tunnels, culverts, frames, tanks, formwork, and falsework systems.
  • CDM Regulations: Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and temporary works, including the identification of risks and the implementation of mitigation measures.
  • Specifications and Testing: Ensure that all works are carried out in accordance with specifications and testing regimes, including the use of Fieldview/Dalux web and mobile BIM software.
  • Commercial Awareness: Demonstrate commercial awareness and experience of working in a cost-conscious environment.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Possess good communication, people, and team management skills, with the ability to speak up on HSEQ matters and lead by example.
  • Qualifications and Certifications: Hold a degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent, with membership of the Institute of Civil Engineers or working towards, IOSH Managing Safely or SMSTS, and a valid CSCS card.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience as a Senior Engineer or similar role in a civil engineering contractor.
  • Knowledge: Good knowledge of CDM regulations and temporary works, specifications and testing regimes, and commercially aware.
  • Skills: Good communication, people, and team management skills, with the ability to speak up on HSEQ matters and lead by example.
  • Qualifications: Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent, with membership of the Institute of Civil Engineers or working towards, IOSH Managing Safely or SMSTS, and a valid CSCS card.
