Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Engineer to join our Hs2 team in the Midlands. The successful candidate will have a strong background in construction or civil engineering and will be responsible for managing the engineering aspects of a project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Manage the engineering aspects of a project, ensuring that works are constructed to the contract drawings, specifications, procedures, and plans.
  • Site Management: Manage site and trainee engineers, ensuring that they are working safely and efficiently.
  • Design and Assurance: Familiarize yourself with design drawings, specifications, and setting out requirements, and ensure accurate construction in accordance with requirements.
  • Temporary Works Design: Identify temporary works requirements, produce design briefs, and understand and communicate temporary works designs to the site team and monitor installation to ensure compliance.
  • Quality Management: Write and check Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), communicate to the workforce, and check the process is being followed.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Write and check Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS) and Temporary Works Briefs (TBS), communicate to the workforce, and monitor compliance.
Requirements
  • Experience: Previous experience as a Senior Engineer (or similar) for a civil engineering contractor.
  • Knowledge: Good knowledge of CDM regulations and temporary works, specifications, and testing regimes relevant to general civil engineering and specification for highway works.
  • Skills: Good communication, people, and team management skills, ability to speak up on HSEQ matters and lead by example.
  • Qualifications: Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering, or equivalent, Member of Institute of Civil Engineers or working towards, IOSH Managing Safely or SMSTS, and a valid CSCS card.
