We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Editorial Director to join our team at Bertelsmann. As a key member of our publishing department, you will be responsible for leading the development and growth of our children's book list.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a strategic plan to grow our children's book list, identifying new talent and opportunities for innovation.
- Work closely with our Publisher to shape the direction of the list and make key decisions on acquisitions and publishing.
- Manage a team of editors and work closely with our Art Director and designers to create high-quality books.
- Build and maintain relationships with authors, agents, and other industry professionals to stay ahead of market trends and identify new opportunities.
- Develop and pitch new ideas for the list, working across a wide range of formats and genres.
- Proven track record of success in children's book publishing, with a strong understanding of the market and industry trends.
- Excellent leadership and management skills, with experience of managing a team of editors.
- Strong network of industry contacts, including authors, agents, and other publishing professionals.
- Ability to think creatively and develop innovative ideas for the list.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
