Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Editorial Director to join our team at Penguin Books Limited. As a key member of our publishing team, you will be responsible for acquiring and developing new picture book titles, as well as growing our existing list of bestselling children's books.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Publisher to identify and acquire new picture book authors and illustrators to grow our Ladybird list
  • Create and build new novelty series and help us grow our non-fiction publishing
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with agents and authors to secure new talent and titles
  • Collaborate with the editorial team to develop and implement publishing strategies
  • Manage competing priorities and use initiative to drive results

Requirements

  • Proven track record of creating bestsellers and spotting new talent
  • Excellent knowledge of the UK and international rights markets
  • Strong negotiating skills and ability to build relationships with agents and authors
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
