Reporting to: QA Engineering Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to enhance one of our delivery teams at Rightmove. Our mission is to create innovative solutions that improve the home-finding experience for our users. Our applications, built on a microservices architecture, utilize technologies such as Oracle DB, Elastic Search, Kafka, and Couchbase to ensure seamless delivery of features and products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote best practices across all areas and foster a quality-centric culture within the team.
  • Create a collaborative environment where team members share accountability for quality.
  • Facilitate refinement sessions, ensuring comprehensive coverage of acceptance criteria, implementation specifics, risks, and monitoring details.
  • Assist the team in understanding and estimating testing efforts and dependencies during planning sessions.
  • Analyze requirements to identify gaps, potential user impacts, risks, and dependencies on internal and external services.
  • Evaluate designs to support the delivery of features that are accessible and inclusive.
  • Collaborate with engineers during development and code reviews to ensure adequate test coverage and prevent redundancy.
  • Maintain and enhance our automation testing framework for relevance and efficiency.
  • Work with the team to diagnose issues using logs, Elastic Search, and databases.
  • Oversee QA ceremonies, including bug backlog management and triage processes.
  • Engage with broader Rightmove teams and stakeholders on various topics.
  • Enhance QA processes across Rightmove by collaborating with the QA community.
  • Contribute actively to our QA community by sharing knowledge and learning from peers.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Quality Assurance for large-scale web applications.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and continuous release practices.
  • Experience with complex microservice architectures.
  • Proficient in running and debugging automated test suites using frameworks like Nightwatch or Cypress.
  • Skilled in API testing tools such as Postman and RESTassured.
  • Understanding of web accessibility standards.
  • Experience with technologies like Elastic Search, Kafka, and Oracle DB.
  • Ability to lead and influence within your area of expertise.
  • Capability to mentor and support colleagues.
