Reporting to: QA Engineering Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to enhance our Rightmove delivery teams in London. At Rightmove, we are committed to developing innovative solutions that improve the home-finding experience for our users. Our microservice-oriented Java applications utilize technologies such as Oracle DB, Elastic Search, Kafka, and Couchbase to ensure seamless delivery of our products and features.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote the adoption of best practices across all areas and foster a quality-centric culture within the team.
  • Create a supportive environment where the entire team shares accountability for quality.
  • Facilitate refinement sessions by detailing acceptance tests, implementation specifics, risks, and release monitoring in project tickets.
  • Assist the team in understanding and estimating testing efforts and dependencies during planning and refinement discussions.
  • Analyze requirements to identify gaps, potential user impacts, risks, and dependencies on internal and external services.
  • Evaluate designs to ensure features are accessible and inclusive for all users.
  • Collaborate with engineers during development and code reviews to guarantee adequate test coverage and minimize redundant efforts.
  • Ensure our automation testing framework is effective, relevant, and resilient.
  • Work with the team to diagnose issues using logs, Elastic Search, and databases.
  • Manage QA ceremonies within the team, including bug backlog and triage processes.
  • Engage with broader Rightmove teams and stakeholders on various topics.
  • Enhance QA processes and practices by collaborating with members of the QA community.
  • Contribute actively to our QA community by sharing insights and learning from peers.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Quality Assurance for large-scale web applications.
  • Experience in agile environments with continuous release processes.
  • Familiarity with complex microservice architectures.
  • Experience in executing and troubleshooting automated test suites using frameworks like Nightwatch or Cypress.
  • Proficient in API testing tools such as Postman and REST Assured.
  • Understanding of web accessibility standards.
  • Experience with technologies like Elastic Search, Kafka, and Oracle DB.
  • Ability to lead and influence within your area of expertise.
  • Capability to mentor and support colleagues.
