About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Research Nurse to join our team at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Clinical Research Nurse, you will play a key role in the coordination and management of clinical trials, working closely with healthcare teams and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth delivery of research studies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage clinical trials, including recruiting and delivering trial-specific procedures
  • Provide verbal and written information and support to patients and carers involved in clinical trials
  • Obtain informed consent from patients and ensure that written informed consent is obtained before any study-related procedures are carried out
  • Coordinate trial patient treatment, assessment, follow-up, and data collection according to specific clinical trial protocols
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary clinical teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality care to patients involved in clinical trials
  • Act as a patient/volunteer advocate, enabling patients to make informed choices concerning their involvement in clinical trials
  • Assist in the education and support of healthcare professionals to enable them to care for clinical trial patients and recruit to clinical trials
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse on the UK NMC register
  • Degree-level or above
  • Extensive experience of working within an acute setting as a qualified nurse, supplemented by specialist clinical training
  • Experience within the NHS environment
  • Experience with a variety of computer programs, including Access, Excel, Outlook, Nervecentre, MediViewer, and other databases
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Post-graduate qualification in clinical research
  • Experience of research in a healthcare setting and clinical trials

  • Ability to make clinical judgements regarding patient needs where appropriate
  • Proven clinical skills, including venepuncture, sample management, and ECG tracing
  • Professional attitude towards work, including dealing with absences
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital services to a growing population of around 700,000 people living across Bedfordshire and the surrounding areas across two busy hospital sites in Bedford and Luton.
