Role Overview:

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a Senior Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse to lead and enhance the cardiology services across multiple sites. This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and optimal cardiology services.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Deputy Head of Nursing, providing professional guidance and specialized clinical support to healthcare professionals across various disciplines, including nursing, midwifery, and allied health.

As an expert practitioner, the post holder will manage their own patient caseload while overseeing the caseloads of the cardiology nursing teams. This role includes the development of evidence-based educational programs and care pathways for patients with cardiac conditions.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Enhance awareness of cardiac health by sharing knowledge and skills with healthcare professionals and patients, improving self-management of cardiac conditions.
  • Deliver individualized patient care based on evolving healthcare needs, ensuring continuity and quality of care.
  • Act as a clinical expert in cardiac condition management, setting standards and making high-level decisions autonomously.
  • Lead the development of protocols and standards for nursing care related to cardiac conditions.
  • Foster a culture of clinical excellence in cardiology throughout the organization.
  • Serve as a resource for healthcare professionals and external organizations, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
  • Conduct training needs assessments and implement educational programs aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Manage financial resources effectively, contributing to budget planning and addressing cost pressures.
  • Engage in research and clinical audits to enhance patient care effectiveness.

Qualifications and Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Registered Adult Nurse (NMC) with further specialization in cardiology.
  • Proven experience in cardiology at a senior level.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to drive change in a complex healthcare environment.
  • Experience in collaborative working across various agencies to improve patient pathways.
  • Knowledge of financial management and budgetary processes.
  • Understanding of current healthcare policies and initiatives related to cardiology.
