Hostel Reception and Referrals Officer

About the Role:
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to a diverse range of visitors, including residents, customers, contractors, and internal and external staff. Your friendly and professional demeanor will ensure that our reception area is a welcoming and efficient space.
A critical aspect of this role is assessing and vetting initial referrals to ensure they meet our suitability criteria. You will work closely with relevant contacts from councils and charities across London and outer London to build strong professional relationships.
Your goal will be to deliver a customer-focused service, including logging repairs and assisting customers with queries. You will also be responsible for monitoring security systems and building control systems to ensure the safety and security of our residents and staff.
You will work closely with our small housing and maintenance team to assist with administrative duties and tasks. Your direct line manager will be the Hostel Team Leader, and you will be part of a small team of six day-staff and evening and weekend security guards.
Location: Our hostel is located in Leyton, E10 7EB, with an onsite car park available for staff. The nearest tube station is Walthamstow Centre, a 20-minute walk away. A short bus ride from Leytonstone and Leyton tube station.
About You: We are looking for someone who is passionate about people, a good listener with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should be a team player who is friendly and professional, able to provide an efficient and effective receptionist and referral support service.
This role offers the opportunity to make a positive impact on people's lives, so you should enjoy helping others. Experience and knowledge within a housing environment are essential, as you will assess client applications against our vetting criteria to determine suitability.
We are seeking someone who is organized, flexible, and able to work well under pressure, with minimal supervision. You will be responsible for managing your own workload and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
