Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a skilled and compassionate professional to develop and deliver programs of care for individuals struggling with substance misuse within a prison environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial assessments, plan, implement, and provide ongoing care for prisoners with substance misuse issues.
  • Manage and maintain a caseload, providing comprehensive discharge and follow-up services.
  • Work collaboratively with an integrated multi-disciplinary team to provide a specialist drug problems service to prisoners within HMP Edinburgh.
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with statutory and voluntary sector organizations and local community groups.
  • Promote a harm reduction philosophy with all agencies and individuals in contact with the service.
  • Manage complex caseloads and make autonomous decisions regarding prisoner discharge and ongoing healthcare needs.
