NHS Lothian is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional to join our team as an Addictions Nurse Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a unique and challenging environment, providing specialist care and support to individuals struggling with substance misuse.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver programmes of care for individuals with substance misuse issues, taking into account their physical, psychological, and social needs.
- Conduct initial assessments, plan, implement, and review care plans, adjusting medication requirements as needed.
- Provide a comprehensive discharge and follow-up service, managing a caseload of individuals with complex needs.
- Work collaboratively with statutory and voluntary sector organizations, forging positive links within the local community.
- Promote a harm reduction philosophy, working with individuals and agencies to reduce the risks associated with substance misuse.
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse with a specialization in addictions or substance misuse.
- Experience working in a prison environment or with individuals with complex needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
- Ability to work autonomously, making decisions about care and support plans.
- Knowledge of harm reduction principles and practices.
