About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Executive Director, Risk Management to join our team at Ameriprise Financial. In this role, you will play a critical part in overseeing and directing operational risk management functions within the investment business unit on a global scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning and Leadership: Develop and evolve operational risk management strategy in alignment with organizational goals, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and successful change implementation.
  • Risk Mitigation and Control: Lead risk assessments, ensure controls are in place, and monitor the effectiveness of mitigation measures to minimize risk and ensure business continuity.
  • Reporting and Communication: Present regular risk reports to senior management and stakeholders, providing clear and concise analysis of operational risk events.
  • Incident Management and Response: Coordinate timely and effective responses to incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Training and Development: Provide training on risk management practices to team members, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to identify and mitigate operational risks.
  • Change Management: Lead initiatives to minimize risk during change events, ensuring that business continuity is maintained and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Support Business Continuity Plans and Event Coordination: Support the development and implementation of business continuity plans, ensuring that the organization is prepared to respond to and recover from operational disruptions.
  • Support Vendor Risk Management Engagements and Oversight: Support the management of vendor risk, ensuring that third-party vendors are properly vetted and monitored to minimize operational risk.

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Experience in team leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks and methodologies.
  • Experience in the financial services industry.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance.
  • Audit experience.
  • Experience in managing business continuity plans.
