Head and Neck Ward Staff Nurse Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our team in the Head and Neck Ward at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the ward's progressive and patient-focused environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:- Care for patients pre- and post-operatively, ensuring accurate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
- Provide care for post-op head and Neck surgical patients, including management of surgical flaps and drain management.
- Care for laryngectomy, tracheostomy patients, and compromised airway patients, prioritizing their needs and ensuring a safe and clean working environment.
- Manage post-op management of surgical flaps, drain management, and care for step-down patients from critical care.
- Administer medications, manage nutrition, and provide wound and pressure area care management.
- Develop communication networks across specialties and throughout the multidisciplinary team, prioritizing your own workload and the workload of those working with you.
- Completion of a nursing degree programme.
- NMC Registered Nurse.
- Previous experience in managing airway patients, recent experience pre/post registration of working in an acute setting, and evidence-based practice relating to a ward nursing environment.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, families, and carers from a diverse background.
- Ability to work under pressure and seek help when required.
- An ability to remain positive during service changes and challenges.
- Flexible and resilient.
- Must be able to demonstrate understanding of, and behaviours consistent with the NMC Code.
