Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Staff Nurse to join our team in the Head and Neck Ward at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust. As a Band 5 Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the delivery of excellent patient outcomes.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Caring for patients pre- and post-operatively
- Caring for post-op head and Neck surgical patients
- Caring for laryngectomy, tracheostomy patients
- Caring for compromised airway patients
- Post-op management of surgical flaps, drain management
- Caring for step down patients from critical care
- Nutrition management
- Wound and pressure area care management
- Administration of medications
- Complex discharge management
Person Specification:
- Completion of a nursing degree programme
- NMC Registered Nurse
- Previous Experience in managing airway patients
- Recent Experience pre/post registration of working in an acute setting
- Evidence-based practice relating to a ward nursing environment
Desirable:
- ENT Head and Neck experience and knowledge
- Evidence of clinical effectiveness, research, and audit
- Knowledge and understanding of the trusts nursing strategy
Key Competencies/ Personal Qualities & Attributes:
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, families, and carers from a diverse background
- Ability to work under pressure and seek help when required
- An ability to remain positive during service changes and challenges
- Flexible and resilient
- Must be able to demonstrate understanding of, and behaviours consistent with the NMC Code
