Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse position within the Head and Neck Ward at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust.
The successful candidate will be responsible for upholding the Trust's values and beliefs in order to deliver high standards of care.
Main Responsibilities
- Maintain own mandatory and role-specific training needs, with support from the ward for further learning.
- Demonstrate a good knowledge base of surgical conditions and treatment required, using evidence to inform practice.
- Demonstrate competence in expanded roles in accordance with the expanded practice policy.
About the Role
The Head and Neck Ward is a 14-bedded ward with ENT and Max Fax patients, however our amazing team looks after different specialties each day.
We are a progressive ward, with a focus on staff development and advancement, aiming to deliver the best possible care to our patients.
Person Specification
Essential
- Completion of a nursing degree programme.
- NMC Registered Nurse.
Desirable
- Mentorship or teaching qualification.
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Previous experience in managing airway patients.
- Recent experience pre/post registration of working in an acute setting.
Desirable
- ENT Head and Neck experience and knowledge.
- Evidence of clinical effectiveness, research, and audit.
Skills

- Demonstration of team working and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Demonstrate an ability to prioritise own workload and recognise, prioritise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
