Octopus Energy Generation (OEGEN) stands at the forefront of sourcing, investing in, and managing a diverse array of large-scale renewable energy projects. As we broaden our investment horizons, we are committed to cultivating a varied team that mirrors the communities we serve.

Since our inception in the renewable sector in 2010, OEGEN has reached significant milestones, establishing itself as a premier investor in onshore wind across Europe, the foremost investor in solar energy within the continent, and recently expanding into offshore wind initiatives. Presently, we oversee a global portfolio nearing £7 billion in renewable energy assets.

Our operational portfolio encompasses over 300 substantial energy-generating enterprises. We take pride in our wind farms, solar installations, and forthcoming projects in energy storage and hydrogen. To facilitate our ambitious growth objectives and long-term stewardship of energy assets, we are enhancing our team.

This position entails working from the office approximately three days a week, fostering a flexible work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Become a vital member of a growing team as we expedite our investment activities.
  • Identify, assess, and execute new investment prospects.
  • Lead and manage transactions across solar, wind, and renewable thermal technologies.
  • Guide and mentor team members at various levels, aiding their progression into deal leaders, thereby enriching our collective expertise and leadership in the sector. Ultimately accountable for transactions, providing senior oversight.
  • Responsibilities may include leadership for specific markets/strategies, alongside shared accountability with the team for pan-European deal sourcing and execution.
  • Embrace management responsibilities, coaching and developing fellow team members.
Qualifications
  • Exhibit teamwork with the confidence to make sound judgments, engaging with colleagues across all levels of seniority.
  • Possess transaction experience in the Renewables / Infrastructure / Energy sector, gained from roles in fund management, investment banking, project finance lending, industry, or transaction advisory.
  • While prior experience as an equity lead is advantageous, we highly value diverse perspectives and skills that enhance our team's effectiveness.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical capabilities and proficiency in financial modeling using Excel.
  • Have a solid understanding of financial valuation principles, coupled with core accounting and tax skills, and the ability to interpret financial statements with confidence.
  • Possess a commercial mindset, capable of owning investment decision-making and understanding the implications for potential investments.
  • Ability to comprehend risks, achieve a balanced assessment of probability and impact, and develop effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Exhibit project management and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex workloads in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrate a self-starter attitude with determination, initiative, and a commitment to achieving results.
  • Focus on the ultimate customer (the investors who entrust us with their capital) in all aspects of the role.
  • Ability to communicate with and influence a diverse range of individuals, including team members, project developers, landowners, project finance teams, legal advisors, technical consultants, policymakers, and potential investors.
  • Fluency in Italian is a plus.
  • Experience in the Italian market is a plus.
