Role Overview:
Our client, a distinguished privately held real estate firm, is renowned for its diverse portfolio encompassing office and retail properties. With a strong history of expansion, they are seeking to hire a Lead Real Estate Investment Strategist to enhance business growth and facilitate capital allocation across various sectors, alongside the evaluation of new opportunities and the development of both internal and external financial models.
This position is part of the Investment division and focuses on delivering high-quality investment evaluations and market intelligence to aid in the strategic decision-making for new acquisitions as well as managing existing assets.
Applicants should possess over 5 years of experience in real estate investment or consultancy, ideally within a respected private equity firm, advisory service, or investment banking environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting buy-side acquisition and valuation of real estate properties and portfolios.
- Developing intricate financial models in Excel to assess the feasibility of prospective acquisition and development projects.
- Executing comprehensive market analysis to substantiate key underwriting assumptions and effectively communicate findings.
- Interpreting real estate, economic, and public company data, including financial reports, to perform valuation and operational benchmarking.
- Overseeing the creation of business cases, structuring insightful analyses, and gathering necessary inputs for both internal and external purposes, including the preparation of investment committee documents and presentations for stakeholders (primarily utilizing PowerPoint).
- Assisting the Investment Team throughout the entire transactional and due diligence process for potential investments, including managing documentation, site evaluations, and coordinating third-party due diligence and legal processes, leading up to the transaction's execution.
- Establishing and nurturing professional relationships to gather market insights from various sources, including lenders, appraisers, agents, and research professionals.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven ability to excel in both independent and collaborative environments.
- A degree with a 2:1 or 1st Class Honors from a prestigious university in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Finance, or Real Estate.
- Exceptional combination of academic excellence, quantitative abilities, and personal drive to foster intelligent investment decisions.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving capabilities – proficiency will be assessed.
- Extensive experience collaborating with valuers and lenders.
- Significant emphasis on advanced Excel and financial modeling skills – modeling proficiency will be evaluated.
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
