Role Overview

As the Senior User Research Lead, you will be responsible for directing research initiatives within the Retirement Services sector, ensuring adherence to best practices and the delivery of high-caliber research outcomes. Your role will involve shaping research strategies at both the organizational and programmatic levels, advocating for a variety of user research methodologies to effectively meet user requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement comprehensive research programs, selecting suitable research methodologies that align with product and program objectives.
  • Guarantee that user research conducted within Retirement Services is efficient, effective, and meets the expected quality standards to fulfill the department's strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders and project teams to provide guidance, promoting standards and insights derived from user research. Influence decision-making processes to ensure user research considerations are integrated throughout.
  • Lead teams in analyzing research data and synthesizing findings, prioritizing actionable insights to be incorporated into the program backlog.
  • Stay updated on the latest best practices and methodologies in the field, providing leadership and expertise while encouraging innovative approaches within the practice.
  • Advise on resource allocation for User Researchers, acting as a Subject Matter Expert to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Champion user needs and advocate for user-centered design principles within the department, ensuring that program decisions and design rationales are informed by user insights.
  • Engage proactively with stakeholders across government and relevant external organizations to influence service vision and priorities.
Candidate Profile

To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate:
  • Extensive experience as a User Researcher or relevant experience in related research fields, with a strong understanding of research ethics, data management, and safeguarding.
  • A proven track record in building and leading research teams, along with an expert understanding of diverse research methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify trends and connections within research findings.
  • Expertise in designing, facilitating, and analyzing various research methods to create a comprehensive understanding of user needs.
  • Proficiency in embedding user-centered design practices within agile workflows.
  • Experience advocating for inclusive research practices that engage a diverse range of users.
  • A history of successfully developing skills and capabilities within large, complex organizations.
